Absolutely Fabulous Food Festival

The Queen Mary Centre were the proud hosts of the Wisbech 2024 International Food Festival.

The festival was formally opened by the Mayor of Wisbech, Peter Human,  and saw roughly 400 people in attendance over the three hours.

With such a diverse milti-cultural comminuty, the people of Wisbech were not disappointed by the array of foods from a wide variety of cultures that were freely available at the festival. These included food from: Turkey, South Africa, Lithuania, Italy, Peru, Indonesia, South Korea, Scotland, England, Ukraine and many more.

There were also a few stalls present representing local food initiatives such as the Fenland Community Orchard, Ferry Project Cookery School and the College of West Anglia cooking department.

Billed as a family event, the food was accompanied by live music, a bouncy castle and a magician.

The atmosphere was extremely friendly and convivial and so many people commented how nice it was to get together as a community to celebrate our different cultures.

It is hoped that we will host the Wisbech International Food Festival next year and plans are already underway for another Food Festival Celebration to be held in the Autumn of this year with a different focus.

Thank you to everyone who cooked and prepared food, to everyone who came to the event, and thanks to the sponsors and organisers of the event from Queen Mary Centre, Ferry Project, Cambridgeshire County Council and Fenland Culture Partnership.
